How is Casual Magic different?
There are so many incredible writing circles & workshops in the world and I’ve participated in lots of them because helloooooo, I love writing and community!
And:
Not all writing workshops are a good fit for all kinds of people.
Here are some things you need to know about Casual Magic + the space we co-create together:
—> Everyone is welcome!
Never written a sentence? Come on over!
Write fifteen times a day? Come over!
—> I write fresh new prompts for every session based on things I’ve been reading + writing through that week.
Don’t like the prompts? Totally fine!
Write about whatever you’d like!
—> We write for 25 minutes!
Don’t need all that time? Cool! It’s still there for when you do need it.
—> You don’t have to share or speak.
You know what you need and how to best show up for yourself in any space, and this one is no different.
And here’s the one I really want you to know:
—> I don’t just comment & give feedback on your writing.
That’s one part of what I do & what everyone in the sessions will offer, but that isn’t enough for me.
I talk to you about you, the person who wrote it.
For us, this is a conversation about you and your writing together. I won’t just pick out my favorite lines and read them back to you—I’ll ask you how it felt to write it, what parts surprised you, where you think you may want to develop the piece a bit more, how long you’ve been wanting to use these specific words, etc.
You don’t have to sit silently and listen to people talk at you: you don’t get removed from the conversation about your own work. You direct the conversation and decide if you’d even like any feedback—it’s your space, too.
For me, writing is never just about the words—it’s about the person who wrote them and how I can see, hear, and support them.
How I can help them express themselves more fully on paper and in everyday life.
Most of us write to know ourselves and be known by others.
You deserve a space to get curious, get deeper + be known.
