What if you believed that YOU are a writer?
Let me guess:
-
You feel like everyone else’s lives are big budget blockbuster productions while yours is 3:00 am cable access TV.
Everyone on Instagram is writing poetry in their captions and blogs that break your heart, then sew it back up again.
Your Saved folder is full of everyone else’s cool thoughts, and you’re left feeling like all of that big, bold, main character energy is for everyone else--but not for you. -
You believe those people were born with some secret sauce that lets them fearlessly write & share.
But you? You still can’t pronounce Worcestershire sauce and sharing pieces of yourself with others is pants-shittingly terrifying.
You think people who write have multiple PhDs from Smarty McBrilliant University and memorize the thesaurus for breakfast.
-
You’ve gotten so good at devising these elaborate stories about everyone else’s abilities and “gifts” that they’re basically living rent-free in your mind.
You think it’s safer to write fake news about someone else than it is to spend time alone with yourself, listening to what you have to say, trusting you can survive the discomfort of doing a new thing.
You’ve been trapped in an endless loop of impostor syndrome and you’re convinced that writing can’t possibly be for you.
Wow, I love you so much, but none of that is true.
And it’s NOT YOUR FAULT that you feel this way!
Most of us have some pretty gnarly scars from our time in school, where we were lectured instead of instructed, tested instead of valued as a whole human being, and told we “just didn’t have ‘it’” when it came to writing and expressing ourselves. We’re walking around with completely outdated beliefs about who we can be and it’s time to put our brains & hearts back in our own hands.
Writing is not reserved for some special group of smarties: it’s a tool for everyone, including you. You can use writing to shift the narratives of what you’re allowed to have, who you’re allowed to be, and how you’re allowed to think about yourself.
It’s time for your trusty YELLY co-pilot to take the wheel while you take some time to consider the possibility that...
Maybe You’re A Writer is a six-week group learning experience for folks who are curious about writing again and folks who are trying to write for the first time.
If you’ve written in the past, but have fallen away from it for any number of reasons--terrible teachers, fear of what will come out when you sit to write, fear of being bad--
this is for you!
Never written a journal or a poem or an essay in your life? You’re invited to the party, too!
We’ll make big moves together, exploring the things keeping you from writing like our old friend impostor syndrome (which, btw, is a total scam), establishing an (anti-)routine, and developing your voice.
Maybe You’re A Writer includes:
Six weeks of pre-recorded video lessons + pep talks
The course is comprised of six weeks of lessons + one week for integration and additional support.
You can watch or listen to the videos any time, anywhere, and as many times as you’d like. It’s like having a shouty hypewoman on demand!
A custom ebook of journal prompts
I’ve written an ebook of journal prompts to accompany each of the lessons to guide you through your tough feelings and tiny marvels, moving your thoughts from your head to your hands to the page. Look at that! You’re already writing.
Weekly live calls via Zoom
Live calls are the perfect space for you to receive the support + affirmation you deserve. Each week’s call will focus on the current module and any issues, clarity, or aha! moments you’re experiencing. We do these LIVE with your courageous cohort of rad folks so that you can see that you’re not alone. Never ever.
Private Discord community
Our Discord community is devoted to connecting you with your courageous cohort, sharing your big wins and the things keeping you up at night, and maybe even your writing. Writing and sharing? Look at you go!
Weekly Writing Sessions
These spaces are reserved solely for you + your courageous cohort where you’ll have the opportunity to share your writing, hear the brave words + hearts of the community, and let yourself believe that Maybe You’re A Writer. If finding time to write by yourself is hard as hell, pop into one of these sessions and write with your pals!
Imagine if…
-
You had a Mary Poppins bag full o’ tricks to identify the thoughts, ideas, labels, and beliefs you have about yourself and the self-trust necessary to rewrite them any time you want to
-
You could rely on a writing routine to say what you want to say, whenever you want to say it—and do it in a way that only you can
-
You had a community of supportive folks who get you, sit next to you during the hard stuff, fire up confetti canons to celebrate your wins, & remind you that you’re a once-in-a-lifetime event.
-
You believed you were worthy of the bigger, dreamier, ALL CAPS life that you always imagined and it showed: in the words you write, the relationships you build, and the way you show up in the world.
FAQs
-
AbsoLUTELY it is. We spend a lot of quality time identifying + exploring the writer in our minds—the people we think get to write, and we dispel a lot of myths around who gets to be creative, what counts as writing, and how to begin seeing ourselves and our thoughts as worthy of writing down. There are no prerequisites or conditions to you showing up here: you, as you are, is exactly right.
-
When you register for the course, you’ll be asked for the best days & times for our calls and writing sessions. The day & time that’s best for the majority of us will be our call day for the duration of the course.
If you aren’t able to attend live, you can still submit a question via Discord. Because calls will be recorded and available to view within 24 hours, you’ll still get the support + clarity you need.
-
Such a good question!
Most of our writing will be reflective journaling and essaying (Yep, it’s a verb!), but you’ll also have the opportunity to play around with different types of poetry. All writing that you do in the course can be shared in our Discord community, but that isn’t a requirement.
-
First of all, I love that you know what you need and you’re advocating for it!
Second, absolutely. When you register for the course, you can indicate that you’re interested in receiving extra 1:1 support and I’ll send you a follow-up email to set that up for us.

You can have a big, bold, blockbuster life.
You don’t have to keep making up stories about what everyone else deserves and what makes them more worthy than you.
You don’t have to buy into the idea that only the gifted and talented get to write because hellooooo, that’s a lie.
You have stories only you can tell, but you don’t have to tell them alone. You can be be seen and heard and—entirely, unapologetically yourself.
