Writing isn’t just about words.
Writing isn’t *just* about words--knowing them, using them, arranging them in sentences.
Sure, those things can help you write more efficiently or eloquently, if those are your goals, but memorizing the dictionary can’t help you tell a story that’ll break someone’s heart.
Right-clicking on a word, then scrolling through the thesaurus for 20 minutes can’t help you tell a story from your treasure chest of life experiences that helps someone understand you better.
Trying to find a word that rhymes with Depression can’t help you capture the feeling of watching the color slowly drain from your big, bold, beautiful life and not being able to stop it.
Knowing what a comma splice is can’t help you see the places in your journal where you’re still hiding, still scared, still wondering if you’re allowed to take up the space you’re craving.

You can’t walk two steps in these internet streets without tripping over lists of free journal prompts, but a list of 50 one-word prompts that aren’t crafted for you & helping you explore the things you’re using to hold yourself hostage isn’t going to get you any closer to writing what you need to write--what you’re meant to write.
The words aren’t the point.
You are.
You should know that I don’t teach or coach writing: I teach and coach people to use writing to express themselves, telling the stories only they can tell.
That distinction means that we co-create the space for you to explore and name what keeps you from writing (hi, Module 1 of Maybe You’re A Writer!).
It means we take care when we look at why you’d rather spend time writing stories in your mind about why everyone else is more worthy of writing than you instead of using the five minutes between the dryer stopping and the wash cycle being over to write a sentence about how you’re feeling (hello, Module 2!).
It means you don’t go places you aren’t ready, willing, or able to go.
It means I trust and respect you. Full stop.
It means that I’m invested in your wellbeing, not some arbitrary word count.
Remember: The words are just a tool. You are the whole point.
